Hello everybody,
Welcome to our blog Paperless Homework for a smarter and greener world.
Smarter ... we bring true multimedia modules to everyone - from urban to the most remote areas on Earth.
Greener ... If we all start using less paper in our classrooms and homework, imagine the power of numbers by the hundreds of millions. We can make a difference to allow more trees to save the rivers, the animal habitats , the birds to nest, produce more fruits for the animals, insects and absorb more CO2.
What is better than not using paper? It definitely is better than recycling because recyling still needs energy to clean up. Here we just do not use paper.
How to participate
We sincerely hope all of you out there participate in our smart and green project.
It is so easy to help Mother Earth. Much much easier than saying ... I would walk to work :>)
You need only to introduce to your nearest school around the benefits of using our AGE tools and contents. If they qualify, we can even let them have it for free.
What are AGE tools and contents?
If you go to our site at http://www.paperlesshomework.com/ you can read about our project.
1. AGE E-workbook generator. This allows teachers to create instant digital homework on the fly.
2. AGE multimedia contents tutorials and model papers for PMR, SPM, UPSR exams plus Chinese Mandarin , and Additional Mathematics for forms 4 and 5 O levels.
3. Useful third parties Dictionaries and Text to speech software.
Current objectives and projects
We are aiming for a target of 100 million ambassadors of Mother Earth.
100 million students to use less paper.
If each student uses 3 reams of paper less per year, 100 million students would mean 100 reams of paper less to be produced in the world per year.
This would equate to millions of trees around the world saved.
....but are we going to stop at 100 million? Definitely not. We aim for the world's students. To jumpstart this initiative as the first step before we proceed to other countries, like China, India and Indonesia...
We are currently providing 100,000 free licences for schools in Malaysia.
These would be distributed through the Ministry, sponsors, or directly to schools.
How you can help to make this project a success..
1. Introduce this to the schools nearest to you. Tell them to quickly apply for
the free licences before they are taken up.
2. Find sponsors if you can to sponsor our CDs to be given free to the schools.
Made it to Stockholm Challenge 2008 ( the "Nobel Prize of ICT") event
In fact our project made it to the finals of the prestigious Stockholm Challenge 2008andboth Alan Foo and Joanne would be there for the occassion on 19th May to 22nd May courtesy/sponsorship of Mdec and Microsoft Malaysia without which our trip is not possible.
Whether we win or not is not crucial. We considered ourselves winners simply by being in the finals of the "Nobel Prize " of ICT event where up to 2,000 international projects were submitted for evaluation.
We are very excited to be there to exchange ideas with the top ICT brains of the world.
Meanwhile, what we are doing....
We are working our hearts out to produce more modules for all to download. We are only a small team of people going round the schools offering them free tools and contents.
Especially tough is the Additional Mathematics. A lot of instructional steps were needed to be done in order to provide step by step easy to understand instructions. Well in the end, our best comments were from the Additional Mathematics modules.
The funny part is , if not because we showed proofs that we are under Government grants , have Ministry of Education endorsement, and perhaps proved that we are actually the finalist of Stockholm Challenge, many schools were skeptical why would anyone want to give them free tools and contents worth up to RM6000 free of charge? :>)
Anyway, we are getting a good number of schools joining our project.
Bye for now.
